Mother Earth is personified as the Plaintiff in a fictional ecocide
courtroom drama based on real events. Historical footage, narration and surreal imagery are used expose the human species as the destructive force in perpetuating the vast devastation of our planet and Her most precious resources.
Mother Earth is given a voice in this story, which offers a compelling visual timeline with minimal use of dialogue, to challenge the viewer to look past the immediate surroundings and deeply observe and connect with our drastically changing landscape.
"Even though you do not hear my cries, I have fed and sheltered you anyway. I have shared my beauty, my wonder, my gifts with you. I have provided for the generations that have come before you. You have decimated my land, poisoned my water and polluted my atmosphere for your edification and profit.... what you have failed to recognize is - I never belonged to you. You were meant to borrow from me, not steal. To give thanks. And to return to the land that which made you prosper. The natives who were here long before you understand that your species is temporary and I Am Eternal."
This is an experimental work-in-progress, influenced by the macabre exploitations of the Amazon rainforest, and a film titled "I Am Cuba" by Mikhail Kalatozov.
