Having experienced and witnessed hate crimes as a youth and institutionalized racism as an adult, one day she
finally decided to document
one of her experiences.
She started as a scrappy archival producer, meshing re-enactments together with
news footage, montages and voiceovers to create her first short documentary
titled "Go Quietly" in 2016, while an attorney anonymously offered a “playbook” for use in the film. The playbook was an unpublished document used by one of the big banks to support the argument that we live in
a two-tiered system of justice.
Her next two documentaries titled
“The Robo Con’ and “Nkosi Eclipsed” featured strong, indomitable characters who inspire by rising up to speak courageously about systems of oppression.
Her documentaries and screenplays have been showcased at festivals in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Eventually returning after a hiatus, she harnessed these early experiences and parlayed her skills into her first short documentary titled "Go Quietly" which screened at the Ohio Independent Film Festival during the week of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election.
In 2020, she became a BRIC Documentary Intensive Cohort, used her stimulus check from the U.S. government and reunited with her high school cohort, Chad Strohmeyer, to produce their first project in over 30 years.

"'The Robo Con' is tightly researched and well argued. It takes an issue that has been framed as a matter of personal poor or greedy choices and made clear the policies that allowed so many people to be caught up in a process designed for the powerful. Thank you for this clear-eyed reminder which is greatly needed as we look to 2020 and beyond."
"'Nkosi Eclipsed' is "a whole new way to do documentary... [it] transcends narrative and following one person - but pulling back to show the system and its problems and the many other prisoners Nkosi shares that unfair unfortunate fate and identity with, keeping it intimate and personal while also universal, a broad call to action but also contemplative and about Nkosi taking individual responsibility."
"Candice Delevante has a unique way of developing characters and describing their personalities and actions with great detail. It's easy to imagine 'Alternative Universe' while reading it and some of the dialogue and tweets that Candice weaved into the story is astounding."
